Instructions to Set Up a New Email Account
NOTE: When noted yourdomain.com, you would type in your domain name.
To Set Up a NEW Outlook or Outlook Express Account:
NOTE: There are many versions of Outlook and each one has different set up instructions, but the instructions below will give you what you need.
- Click on "Tools" on the Menu bar at the top of your screen.
- Select "Email Accounts" or "Accounts" or "Services"
- Select POP3
- Fill in your name and email address
- The incoming POP3 server is mail.yourdomain.com.
- The outgoing SMTP Server
is
mail.yourdomain.com.
- NOTE: Some ISP's require that you use them in this spot. That is also okay.
- If you have a laptop computer that travels, you will want to use mail.yourdomain.com.
- An example of your username is jdoe@yourdomain.com, not just jdoe.
- Fill in your password
- Select the "Advanced Settings" button
- Select the "Outgoing Server" tab and click in the "My server requires authentication" box.
- Select "Next"
- Select "Finish"
That's it....you're done.
Still Not Able to Get Mail:
- Some systems require different server port numbers. If you are still not able to get mail, go back into your account settings.
- Select the Advanced button
- Select the Advanced tab
- Change the Outgoing SMTP server port number to 26.
- OK and finish.
